The University of Georgia Warnell School of Forestry & Natural Resources is hosting a virtual Shortleaf Pine Establishment and Management workshop August 15-16, 2023.
The course will provide detailed information on several topics including: pre-settlement to current history of shortleaf pine throughout its native range, ecology and silvics information, advantages and situations appropriate for shortleaf pine management, details on the current status of the shortleaf resource, silviculture for natural and artificial regeneration, prescribed fire and shortleaf pine, challenges of shortleaf pine management, and managing for shortleaf pine-hardwood mixed woods forest types.
Presentations will be led by multiple instructors with decades of experience. The workshop will offer SAF CFE credits (8 hr), GA Master Timber Harvester credits (8 hr Category B), and GA pesticide applicator credits (1 hr categories 10 & 23), and International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) BCMA (2 hr) and Certified Arborist (2 hr) credits. A discounted early registration fee, which includes copies of the presentations ends on August 1st.
