Crash Course: How To Grow Hemp in South Georgia

Successful organic producer Sedrick Rowe will take interested first-time and veteran farmers through the ropes of starting a naturally grown hemp operation. Sponsored by USDA's Southern SARE, this course is part of SARE's Equity and Prosperity Sustainable Agriculture Leadership Program and structured to teach the following:

  • historical significance of hemp to this geographical area;

  • best practices to grow, harvest and process industrial hemp for grain, fiber and CBD production;

  • industry expectations to cultivating hemp throughout seasonal changes;

  • conservation practices to incorporate while working the soil, land; and

  • environmental and economical benefits/challenges the hemp industry can potentially create.
