Farm Proven Strategies for Employee Management and Retention

Join Paul and Lindsey Sorah, owners and operators of Hearts of Harvest Farm, as they share insights and strategies for managing your farm staff. Topics covered during this session will include:

  • Cultivating employees that are invested in your farm’s success

  • Workflows for employee reviews and check-in's

  • Identifying the cost of staff turnover and why investing in staff saves you money

  • Management strategies to encourage employee retention

  • Planning for payroll throughout the farming season

  • Identifying qualities to look for when hiring

While management strategies and examples shared by the presenters will be specific to farm operations, this session may be suitable for farm managers who oversee people management along with non-farm small business owners.

About Hearts of Harvest Farm:

It all began when, Lindsey and Paul Sorah, along with farm partner Mark Golden and his family, moved from two very busy cities to Arnoldsville, Georgia to start their first farm. With young children and a longing to slow down from the fast pace of city living so they could soak in these fleeting years of watching our children grow, they planted roots deep into a new way of life that allowed them to rejoin the natural rhythms of life, reconnect with nature and focus on what really matters the most to their family: quality time spent together, a healthier way of living, and being a part of a community that shares our commitment to supporting the local food economy.

Today, Hearts of Harvest Farm is entering its fourth season and remain committed to growing the most delicious and healthy food possible for you and your family to live your lives to the fullest! Cultivating over three acres, the farm aims to bring the best of seasonal, organically grown produce to local markets, restaurants, and more every week.
